Hi Walt. I have enjoyed you since your days as a Saluki and I am so glad to have MSG. I came up with something you might want to use if you haven't come up with it yourself already. It the word "melocity"....to be used when Melo seems to be picking up steam.....as in velocity. I would be honored to hear you use it. Tom Formica from the western Catskills

"The fan base is ready to collapse on a coach that does not deserve blame,"

You lost all your credibility with that line. Mike Dantoni is the coach and he is responsible to make sure the players play at a high level. If not, have the temerity to bench them. He makes one excuse after another for why they lost. 3 days ago it was because they didn't have Chandler. What was the excuse yesterday, Daylight Savings Time?

Fire Dantoni now while they still have time. It is obvious he has lost the team.

Having seen the game live with a true fan, I must say it is the Coach's fault. The team is trying, but plays little defense. Any organization in chaos requires change--often at the top. We know that the Coach will not be here next season. Until then, they will continue their inconsistency because the Coach's vision will not work with this group of players. Your point seems to be that no coach's vision would work with these players. You might be right, but it does not matter as the Captain goes down with his ship.

The difference between great players and great teams is the one or two guys on a team that make the players around them better. That is how many championships are won. Bird - Jordan - Magic - Frazier etc.
I think all the hype surrounding Lin will help Anthony accept his role as one of those players who can benefit from Lin's special ability to bring them over the top. Go Knicks!

I think that playing point guard in the Ivy League is much more comparable (in terms of difficulty) to playing it at Duke than playing power forward is. At least that large part of the game which is about making the right pass at the right time--why shouldn't that be just as difficult at Harvard? Going up for rebounds, getting your shot off against someone who is 6-8 --that of course is more difficult v major college competition. But I think Lin's skills-- at least the passing and court-managment ones-- coming out of college may have been under-rated because of people not realizing this.
(That said, I know much more about tennis and golf than basketball)

Don't know that your first article was that far off. Your penultimate paragraph was right on the mark.
As for reason he's succeeded, it's his perseverance & hard work. That's why he'll be in the league awhile. Probably will not be a starter long term but he will be an asset to any team because there are not too many pure pgs anymore.
Great story which people will keep following.
